Time for the Two of Us

There was a time, not too long ago, that our family was only two people. Our lives are not as spontaneous as they were then, but Jonathan has made our marriage even better. I love watching Jamie be a dad. He teaches me things, and the three of us have so much fun together. We laugh in ways we never laughed before having the little man.

And, though we love having Jonathan as a part of our family, we need and want time for just the two of us. Jamie's parents graciously agreed to watch Jonathan overnight so that Jamie and I would be able to go away overnight before Baby #2 makes an entrance. We had a wonderful time, and from Jonathan's demeanor, one is to assume that he had a good time, too.

As part of their visit, they wanted to celebrate Jonathan's second birthday a little bit early. So, I made some dinner that Jonathan really likes and we had him decorate his birthday dessert (rice krispie treats made w/ soy butter). Grandpa Maynard and Grandma Judy gave him a delightful gift of matchbox cars that he spent all day playing with after they left today.

"New cars!!!!!!!!!!!"

Note: The Rice Krispie Treats and couscous we had for dinner were all over his clothes. Hence, the reason for the diaper only attire during gift opening.

I think diaper only attire is best for a lot of things, if you're of the right age for that sort of thing.

The Rice Krispy cake was very creative, Sarah.
