Happenings

1. We close on our new house next week. I'm the go-to in regards to all of those details in this family so that has been busy.

2. A certain two year old has been difficult (to put it nicely) so that is rather incompatible with having ANYTHING else to accomplish on a given day.

3. Our wonderful, fabulous friend, Esther, visited us last weekend and we all had a grand time with her. When we deposited her at the train station on Monday morning Caleb said, "I go wid Esther."

4. We move in a month and a week to the new house. I'm in denial that all of this stuff will have to be moved, again.

5. I'm watching my sister's kids on Wednesdays until the end of the school year because her nanny isn't available on that day. Four children: 4 year old, two 2 year olds, and a baby are a LOT of work. I get nothing done except insuring that we are all well cared for and loved on Wednesdays.

6. Chik-Fil-A lemonade was surely sent from heaven. My sister brings me one every Wednesday morning along with her children.

Grampie and Grammie

My parents were here for two weeks to take care of my sister's kids while she started back to work. We enjoyed some fun times with them, as well...

Deee-wicious

Caleb: "Jesus is DEEWICIOUS!"

Me: Yes, he is.

Caleb: "Grampie is DEEWICIOUS! Grammie is DEEWICIOUS! And, Mommy you deewicious, too."

Glad to know you like us like you enjoy good food. But, in your terms, we think you're pretty DEEWICIOUS, too!

Hallelujah or Something

The boys join us for part of church at our new place and this has been quite the exciting event for the boys as we have had a wide variety of instruments to observe on any given Sunday: a banjo, a stringed bass, various drums, pianos of different sorts, and lots of different guitars.

Jonathan decided that it was time for church one morning when Grammie and Grampie came over with Josh and Jake last week. Here are the worship leaders:

Holding the Babe

Jonathan really likes holding Josh... I imagine soon Josh will be much too big and wiggly for a four year old to hold so he is getting his loving in now.

My Gems

Toys or Mud?

"When all toys are at your disposal... dig in the dirt." That HAS to be the motto of my children. We had the option of playing with several (you've seen pictures our our garage and the toys) toys outdoors on a nice day last week, but Jonathan found two places where no grass grows and dug huge holes in the mud.

Heartache

Our hearts are heavy this week for Jamie's sister, Sara, and her family who lost their dad and husband over the weekend to a sudden heart attack. The whole family aches for that loss.

Jamie has been on the phone a bit, making arrangements for travel to be with the family and touching base with everyone. Jonathan perceived that things were going on, but he wasn't sure what had happened.

Today I asked him about it a little bit, and explained that Uncle Jose had died and didn't get to be with us on the earth anymore. He asked a few questions and then remained silent about it until an hour later.

Jonathan: "Mommy? I bet Uncle Jose is sad that he doesn't get to put Elysa, Isaac and David to bed anymore."

Me: "Yes, I would think so."

Jonathan: "Mommy? I bet Elysa, Isaac and David are sad that their daddy can't put them to bed anymore and read stories to them."

Me: "Yes, I'm sure they are sad. I would be sad."

Jonathan: "Me, too."

Please pray for Jamie' family but especially for his sister and her three children.

Settled?

In April we will move for the eighth time in our nine year marriage. We are hoping that this one will be it for a while. We mentioned painting Jonathan's room to him. His response was, "How long will it be until we sell that house to someone else?"

My response, "I hope it will be a very, very long time."

We close on the purchase mid-April and have a month to get things moved over to that house from this rental.

The Scream

Caleb + 2 = rough times and great times.

Caleb at two is a challenge. He is loud and can throw quite the screaming fit about most anything. He is not easily distracted from the object of his irritation. He is strong and stubborn. He can scream for 20-30 minutes about taking off his shoes or having to walk up the stairs. He is loud and pulls hair.

Caleb at two is also great fun and quite amusing. The other day, he came to me (wailing), and said, "Jonafan is being selwfiss." Guess he has been paying attention during my conversations about selfishness with Jonathan. He also loves to listen to music, and immediately begins dancing when certain songs are played.

Two for Caleb means taking the challenges with the precious memories. This momma is hoping that the lack of positive reinforcement (ie: not getting his way) quickly squelches the screaming fits.
