Allergies - arrgh!!

OK - I cannot figure out how to turn the photo of my sister and Jonathan. So - turn your head.

Jonathan is only in the 40th percentile for weight. I think most of it is in his little belly and his cheeks.

Jonathan appears to be allergic to dairy products. After giving him yogurt (a highly recommended food for babies?!?!) he broke out in hives and a rash. Same scenario when I tried out formula a week ago. After briefly freaking out that I would have to breast feed forever - I did become calmer. People deal with this sort of thing regularly. We have an appointment with the pediatric allergist in a couple of weeks.

Jonathan weighs 20 pounds and is 29 inches long. The pediatrician says that he is developing normally. I think he is a genius. For those of you without children: all parents think this. Those of us who have been teachers know to keep this to ourselves once the children attend school. Teachers do not want to hear about what genius your child is on the first day of Kindergarten - right, Kristin and Carla?

Enough ramblings... and a couple of photos :+)

Hot, hot, hot...

What is up with this hot weather, folks????? I don't love the heat, and the month long heat wave is not much to my liking.
Shockingly enough, I have managed to upload a couple of photos. Jonathan can make first rate messes while eating so we thought we would share.
He also thought that Daddy needed a lot of help putting the new vaccuum cleaner together. As you can see, he is a very willing assistant.
I am saying prayers of gratitude for air conditioning.

Mundane Monday

My dear friend, Katherine, tells me that blogging is the way to go - so here I am. Jonathan is keeping me quite busy. Thankfully he has decided to nap a bit more noticeably today. Usually his naps are so short that if you blink you'll missed them.

Jamie's new job is going well. He commented the other day on his way home from a busy day, "Today we had so much fun doing..." Fun and work? I am thrilled that Jamie is enjoying his new job.

As for me: I am missing all of the friends that we left behind when we moved. All day with a little one and few people to converse with can make the time move rather slowly. I am trying hard to appreciate the fact that I am staying home with Jonathan and getting to share in his new activities. As my mother says, "this too shall pass". And, I know that it will.

Jonathan enjoyed his first ride in the Burley bike trailer that we bought to haul him in when we go for family bike outings. He HATED the helmet. Understandably - who likes those hot things on the head?? We are loving the huge number of paved bike/running trails that are around here - one of the major bonuses to this area.

For those of you who know Jonathan - he has not lost an ounce of intensity. In fact - he may be gaining steam with age. Whew - I am going to be one worn out mother if subsequent children have this much gusto.

Adios ~

Moving Chaos

I seriously considered posting my first blog ever in the font, "Webdings", but decided that in an effort towards normalcy I would refrain and pick a readable text.

Life has been chaotic for the three of us lately. After the problems with the appraisal on the home that we hoped to purchase and all of the strange circumstances that came with that situation, we decided to rent a home. So - we do NO mowing, NO shoveling, NO repairs. They do it all. There is beauty in that.

Jonathan is as lively as ever, and he loves to move, move, move. He prefers to be awake and a part of the action, and feels slighted if he is put to bed when things are going on. Too bad - Mommy likes her sleep.

More later...
