Jonathan's Future Wife...

Our dear friends, the Krugers visited us in early June. They have a daughter, Anna, who has been promised to Jonathan in marriage. Hee Hee!! Just kidding. But, we love the Krugers and joke about the fun that it would be to be in-laws to each other's children. Anna is seven months younger than Jonathan, and the two of them had great fun together. Jonathan really liked playing with her: Katherine and I have been friends for quite a while and we share many similarities... not the least of which is children with large heads. Check out the cheeks on both of our kiddos.
We have this LOVELY stroller that I cannot say enough good things about. We bought the double because we will need it by next spring and decided to be proactive. Anna loves the BOB as much as Jonathan.
The weekend with the Krugers was so much fun! It almost made me forget that Dylan was awaiting a biopsy to rule out cancer. Unfortunately, the biopsy didn't rule out cancer. Dylan was diagnosed with lymphoma two weeks after their visit here and he begins chemo this week. Please pray for healing for Dylan and for strength for their family.

The Barber Shop

I never took photos of Jonathan's first haircut, but this is about his eighth cut. We take him to Tom at the Barber Shop near our house (they have a pole outside and it is a REAL barber shop). Tom has been cutting hair for 30 years, and Jonathan just sits in the chair, mesmorized. He doesn't move or smile or anything... I think he find it calming to have Tom cutting his hair.

I sit in a chair away from them - and Jonathan does fine. If I get too close it only causes problems. WE LOVE THE BARBER SHOP! I will not cut my son's hair as long as we live here with Tom and his daughter, Carrie, available for business.

Family Fun - Part Two

Jamie's parents came to visit last weekend and brought two of our nieces with them. Elysa is 14 and Allison is 11 (Jamie is the youngest and we started later with having children than his siblings). It was hot, hot, hot the first day that they were here so we enjoyed one of my favorite activities: the baby pool. The girls liked it, too. I think they were just thrilled to get to hang out with one another! They brought this "cozy coupe" with them, and Jonathan LOVES it. He seems to love all outdoor toys that move or make messes. This is Jamie's mom with Jonathan:
We spent a beautiful morning at the zoo on Saturday and we all liked the penguins!
It was great to spend some time with the Guild family and see Elysa since we won't see her when we go home later this month. We will get to see everyone else, but Elysa is going on a trip elsewhere so she won't be there.

Family Fun - Part One

The Iverson side of our family gathered at a condo earlier last month to do some golfing, relaxing and hanging out. A golf get-away has been part of our Christmas gifts for the last two years from my parents. The first day of golfing my mom stayed with Jonathan while the rest of us golfed. Here are the "boys" on the tee-box: My sister is due with their first baby in early September, but her golf game still trumped mine even though I am only 4 months pregnant here and she is 7 months pregnant.
My mom played golf with my dad, Carla, and I on the last golfing day. Unfortunately, I didn't remember to take any photos. That is quite a shame considering the fact that Mom's golf game may have been one of her best ever. Here we are at a little eating/shopping area... Jonathan loved this little car (Mom, Dad, Jamie, and Jonathan):
This is my family... by Christmas we will have increased by two. The activity level will be startingly more by then, and Jonathan will have to adjust to a position of shared attention.
I wanted to post some photos of our visits from the Presleys and the Krugers, but I neglected to take photos from those days :+(. I tried to copy some from Katherine's blog, but to no avail. We have had a delightful time enjoying visits from friends and family last month. Next post: visit from the Guild grandparents and two of Jonathan's cousins.

Belated Father's Day Ode

Jonathan has the best daddy... that also means that I have the best husband. It is several days past Father's Day, but never too late for an ode to the man:
Just a few (of the many) reasons to love Daddy:
1. He and Jonathan wrestle and rough house. Jonathan loves this and my style of rough housing is much inferior to Daddy's style.
2. Jonathan runs to the door when he hears the garage door, yelling, "Daddy, Daddy!"
3. Jamie talks to Jonathan all of the time - there will be no shortage of words if Jonathan inherits Jamie's outgoing and talkative personality.
4. Although I'm certain that crafts aren't Jamie's thing - he'll do them with Jonathan out of love.
5. When he's gone he calls often to see how we're doing.

The Little Climber

Jonathan loves to climb, climb, climb! He also really likes the Burley bike trailer and his helmet that goes with that. The other day he wanted to go for a bike ride, so he got in the trailer and pointed at our bikes and said , "bike, bike" "please". I was just finishing my shower today when I heard Jonathan leave the bathroom and open the armoire in our room. I quickly moved out of the shower to see what he was doing. When I peeked around the corner -here is what I saw:
He had climbed up into the armoire and was attempting to crawl on top of the TV (no photo of that since I had to quickly thwart that effort).

He likes to crawl in corners and "hide out" sometimes. Maybe it is the "fort" mentality. I used to LOVE to build forts as a child and so did Jamie. My mom has some fabulous photos of my sister and I in our forts.

Red, red, everywhere!!

We were on a walk yesterday and we heard the ice cream truck making its way toward us. I had the brilliant idea to get Jonathan a popsicle. Brilliant in that he LOVED it. Not so good in that he had it in his hair, on his legs, socks, shoes, EVERYWHERE!!! Jamie isn't a big fan of "sticky" so this was a bit challenging for him. We took Jonathan immediately out of his clothes while he was standing outside and took him right to the bath. He also thought it was fun to put some on the sidewalk and then lick it from there. Yucko!

Tonight we got sno-cones and we were ALL very sticky after we were done. I managed to spill it all over my shirt and shorts. You would have thought I was the 1 year old child.

Hope none of you are floating away as the Midwest braces itself for flooding, flooding and more flooding...
