As a General Rule...

This blog does not contain political commentary. Also, as a general rule, politics are a disappointment for me. Most political news is unremarkable in that it rarely deviates from the predictable, calculated moves of politicians or the news media. Today was a shocker for me: McCain's running mate is not what the news media predicted and she is "risky". Should make things interesting and I think that interesting in a "risky" sort of way is far preferable to predictable in a political sort of way.

Another Outie

Daddy and his boy: Jonathan doesn't look thrilled, but he actually loved it! The life jacket wasn't his favorite, but his love of the water overshadowed his displeasure with the thing on the back of the lifejacket. Jonathan loves water to swim in, water to splash in, water to spray (from the hose), water to spray (from a squirt bottle), water to drink out of a real cup, water in any form.

The reason for the title of this post: Baby #2 has caused my belly button to become an outie, yet again. It appears to be unavoidable for me. The third eye is the name we gave it last time. Other than the outie for me, Baby #2 seems to be doing just fine with lots of kicking.

"Jonathan-isms"

Jonathan's little voice warms my heart... I love hearing him talk! Here are a few of my favorite things that he has been saying as of late:
~ Mommy, coming?
~ Mommy, do it!
~ Give baby kiss (he lifts up my shirt and kisses the belly)
~ Running, running, running (does this indicate the speed of his activity?!?! He says this when he runs and whenever he sees other people running)
~ Listen music (which sounds much more like icky moocis)

Washing Cars

Our cars were covered with bugs and dirt after traveling so much, so we decided to wash them the old fashioned way: in the driveway, with the hose and some soap. Jonathan participated:

He figured out how to press the lever to turn on the nozzle spray... oh the fun!! I think he would have collasped from exhaustion before willingly giving up the hose.

Guild Family Time

The end of our vacation was spent with Jamie's family in Des Moines. He came and joined us for three of the four days that we were there. Our first day in Des Moines was spent at the Iowa State Fair. I had never attended before, so the experience was new for both Jonathan and I. Jonathan planting seeds in a simulated farm area

The boy cousins had a birthday party to celebrate all of their birthdays at once. They went to the science center and had a fabulous time playing on all of the exhibits!

We also spent a day at a lake home in the southern part of the state... the kids had a blast there, and it was great to hang out with everyone without having to leave for Jonathan's nap, etc.

Our vacation was wonderful, but home looked very sweet after almost three weeks of being gone! That is part of the beauty of vacations - they make you appreciate home that much more.

Random Fun Photos

Jonathan likes shoes... I will say no more. This photo will be sufficiently embarrassing for the lad when he is in college and his girlfriend comes to visit. I have a few others that also will add to the effect. He had a little trouble walking with these shoes... not only were they too big, but the little heel threw him a bit.

Our Little Parrot

Jonathan's vocabulary is growing by leaps and bounds and he parrots our words often - this story will give you a taste of our world. It is so much fun!!

We were sitting in the living room tonight after dinner and I smelled something near Jonathan. I asked Jamie if Jonathan had done some business in his pants while I had been gone. Jamie said that he didn't know, but that Jonathan had been farting a bit. Jonathan immediately says, "farting, farting" (VERY clearly) and points to his rear. We were not able to contain our laughter. If that isn't motivation to watch what we say, I don't know what would be!
